Our program includes several key academic and participatory events designed to introduce the congress theme, strengthen collective learning, and explore Istanbul’s urban dynamics. The following activities will take place within this framework:
Opening Session
Thursday, June 4th – Afternoon
This session will provide the essential framing input on Istanbul’s urban trajectory. Our team will also welcome you, introduce themselves, present the schedule and logistics, and answer your questions.
Panel Session: Food for Thought
Friday, June 5th – Afternoon
Join us for a session of stimulating ideas. We will hear sharp, critical positions on key issues, followed by space for collective reflection. Stay tuned for speaker updates!
Local Encounters
Saturday, June 6th – Afternoon
With lots of parallel excursions and encounters across three days, each person will only experience a few. This meeting is the key chance to make up for that. Connect with other local actors and expertss, share insights from different excursions you have missed, and network in smaller, deeper conversations. Partial on-hand translation will be available where needed.
The Floating Academy
Monday, June 8th – Morning
A plenary session… on the water! We will explore the megacity from its shoreline and waterways, touching on topics such as coastal land use, residential and industrial heritage, and marine ecology.
City Part Evaluation
Monday, June 8th – Late Morning or Early Afternoon
This classic module of every INURA conference will serve as the closing segment of the city program, held before the departure of those not continuing to the retreat. We will collectively reflect on and evaluate our experiences in Istanbul.
Detailed information, schedules, and contributors for all plenaries and group activities will be announced shortly.
